SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, June 18, 2021 – In August next year, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will be held in Seoul, which cutting-edge eco-friendly electric vehicles from worldclass automakers will race through the city. At the same time, Seoul Festa will be also held in Seoul with world-class K-Wave contents such as K-pop. The Seoul Metropolitan Government expects to make a breakthrough in Seoul tourism, which has been stagnant for a long time due to COVID-19 First of all, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s Seoul Competition (SEOUL E-PRIX 2022), a world-class electric vehicle racing competition, will be held at Jamsil Stadium from August 13 to 14, 2022. It is the last competition of the 2021-2022 season to be held from the end of this year.
The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is organized by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and is called Formula-E. E-PRIX refers to the each city’s competition. The Seoul competition has been confirmed to be held from August 13 to 14, 2022.
In conjunction with this, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will also hold the Seoul FESTA 2022 (‘22.8.10. ~14). As a global tourism festival, it will gather various K-wave contents like K-Pop, KBeauty, K-Food to be a representative festival of Seoul so visitors can enjoy all kinds of Korean culture at one place. Hosting of the Seoul FESTA will bring a synergy effect with SEOUL E-PRIX to boost Seoul’s tourism market.
BTS are expected to maximize the promotional effect as honorary tourism ambassadors of Seoul and global ambassadors for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Mayor Oh Se-hoon will sign a business agreement with Formula E Korea (FEK), which hosts the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship SEOUL-PRIX 2022, and KBS, which is the main broadcasting company for the competition, at 11 p.m. on the 18th (Fri). At the business agreement ceremony, BTS also will deliver expectations for a successful hosting through video messages.
