    SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, December 22, 2021 – The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) plans to revitalize the Dongdaemun Fashion Town, which has been in recession due to the prolonged pandemic. Seoul releases a promo film to introduce the hidden charms of Dongdaemun Fashion Town and hold an Instagram event to encourage posting trendy photos of Seoul’s food and attractions.

    The Dongdaemun Fashion Town is Korea’s largest fashion cluster where design, production, distribution, and sales take place in the same area. It has been much loved as one of Seoul’s most popular travel destinations. The SMG said it would showcase the uniqueness of the Dongdaemun Fashion Town as a global fashion district.

    LACHICA, the dance crew that became a star after the show <Street Woman Fighter>, appears in the promo film and describes the apparel manufacturing process through choreography. Dongdaemun Fashion Town’s dynamic scenes from textile fabrication, planning, production, and sales, along with LACHICA’s creative choreography, will draw viewers’ attention. The video also introduces nearby tourist spots, including Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, and Cheonggyecheon.

    Under the theme of Dongdaemun Fashion Town’s fashion and style, LACHICA dances to the rap “design yourself more in Dongdaemun.” The promo film is uploaded on the SMG’s Youtube Channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/seoullive) on Tuesday, December 21.

    In addition, KBSN’s web entertainment show starring Seunghee and Binnie of K-pop girl group Oh My Girl will show a special day in the Dongdaemun Fashion Town. In their <Shopping> episode, Seunghee and Binnie will choose and try on different clothes while introducing what to see, eat, and enjoy in the Dongdaemun Fashion Town in the <Tourism> episode.

    Besides videos, Seoul holds an Instagram event to encourage more people to visit the Dongdaemun Fashion Town. When people upload a photo on Instagram with a hashtag to prove their visit to the Dongdaemun Fashion Town and adjacent attractions, Seoul will offer gifts sold in the Dongdaemun Fashion Town or coffee coupons by drawing lots. The event will last until Thursday, December 23.

    “Dongdaemun Fashion Town is the center of Korean fashion and full of tasty food and amazing attractions. We want to promote these charms of Dongdaemun to many citizens,” said Choi KyungJu, Director General of Tourism & Sports Bureau. “I hope the video and event can revitalize Dongdaemun Fashion Town and help citizens enjoy safe tours and a happy end of the year.”
