    Level 4 New social distancing guideline

    Level 4 social distancing will be maintained in the Seoul metropolitan area from midnight (00:00) on August 23 to midnight (24:00) on September 5.

    [Reinforced measures for vulnerable facilities]

    • – (Restaurants, cafes) Stricter restriction on business hours from 10 PM to 9 PM, after which only take-out and delivery are allowed. However, the capacity limit of up to 2 persons for private gatherings after 6 PM can be extended to up to 4 persons if the additional persons are fully vaccinated (6 PM to 9 PM)
      • ※ The capacity limit of up to 2 persons applies to non-vaccinated persons, and the capacity limit may be extended to up to 4 persons if the additional persons are fully vaccinated
    • – (Preemptive testing) Those who work in facilities where COVID-19 infections frequently occur, such as public baths, indoor sports facilities, karaoke rooms, private academies, department stores and supermarkets, must get preemptive COVID-19 testing (once every 2 weeks)

    [basic social distancing measures]

    • – (Social gatherings) Up to 4 persons before 6 PM, and up to 2 persons after 6 PM
      • ※ Suspension of vaccine incentive which exempted vaccinated people from social distancing measures (however, the capacity limit at restaurants and cafes can be extended to up to 4 persons if the additional persons are fully vaccinated (6 PM to 9 PM))
    • – (Multi-use facilities) No gatherings allowed at entertainment facilities, restrictions on business hours after 10 PM for all multi-use facilities (however, take-out and delivery allowed after 9 PM for restaurants and cafes)
    • – (Other) No events and rallies (except 1-person rallies); religious activities allowed for up to 10% of religious facility capacity or up to 99 persons (no gatherings, events, dining or overnight stay); businesses advised to implement remote work or employees

    • (Convenience stores) No eating inside after 9 PM (level 4); 10 PM (level 3)
      * The same measures apply to restaurants and cafes
    • (Outdoor tables) No use of outdoor tables and chairs for eating at restaurants, cafes and convenience stores after 9 PM (level 4); 10 PM (level 3)
    • (Smoking rooms) 2-meter distancing for indoor smoking rooms enforced
      • * Single person use for small smoking rooms where 2-m distancing is difficult

    Social distancing details

    • The new level 4 social distancing measures are designed to counteract the pandemic by encouraging people to go home after work, and restricting the capacity limit of private gatherings to up to 4 persons until 6 PM and 2 persons after 6 PM
      • * The capacity limit of up to 2 persons applies to non-vaccinated persons, and the capacity limit may be extended to up to 4 persons if the additional persons are fully vaccinated (6 PM to 9 PM)
    • There are no exceptions for events, such as first-birthday party of immediate family, but there are exceptions for cohabiting family, care workers for children, seniors and the disabled, and grieving at deathbeds.
      • * Exemption of vaccine recipients from restrictions do not apply to level 4 social distancing
      • – Exemption of private gathering do not apply to morning soccer meets, baseball and other sporting events that require a “minimum number of people”
    • Events and rallies (except for 1-person rallies) are prohibited, and all weddings and funerals are limited to 49 persons without regard to family relations.
      • – No events with overnight stays whether or not it is for official duty or necessary for the management of the company
      • – Permanent personnel in booths at exhibitions and expos are limited to 2 persons, and must receive PCR testing, while be only accessible with prior reservations
      • – Academic events are limited to 49 participants (excluding event staff and speakers)
    • No gatherings allowed for group 1* of multi-use facilities, and other multi-use facilities must close dafter 10 PM
      • * Entertainment facilities; hold’em pubs and casinos; colatecs and dance halls
      • – No showers allowed for indoor and outdoor sports facilities
    • No spectators for any sporting event
    • Only up to two thirds of rooms allowed for operation, and no events, such as parties, hosted by lodging facilities
      • * No parties and other events hosted by lodging facilities; no mediation for meet-and-greets of users (except for leasing the hall)
    • Religious activities allowed by 10 people in religious facilities with capacity of 100 persons or less, and up to 10% of capacity in religious facilities with capacity of 101 persons or more allowed (up to 99 persons), but no gatherings, events, dining or overnight stay.
