Now in some local news, taking public transportation in Seoul is about to get a touch more pricy. The city government and the city council are pushing to raise minimum bus and subway fares by 200 to 300 won. That’s around 20 to 30 US cents. In addition, the current per charge for each 5 kilometers is 10 cents, but they are looking about possibly into raising that to 20. The goal is to heighten the price in the first quarter of next year. The Seoul subway system has been losing money, due to suppose giving free rides for the elderly. The COVID19 pandemic has just made their financial problems that much worse, and has led to increasing public transportation fares, since 2015.
