  • Social Distancing Level Lowered to Level 2 (Sept. 14-27)

    ◈ The level of social distancing has been lowered to Level 2 with some adjusted prevention measures that directly limited businesses of the working class. However, precise reinforcements of prevention control at high-risk facilities, such as medical facilities, will be made.

    □ (Adjustment of prevention measures) Adjustment of prevention measures regarding facilities of working-class businesses and mandatory enforcement of key prevention regulations
    ○ The limited operation of restaurants and cafes as well as the ban on gatherings at private educational institutes and indoor sports facilities will be eased, but implementation of key prevention measures will be mandatory to reinforce prevention control
    * Facilities that fail to observe the key prevention measures will be banned from hosting gatherings or fined with a fee of up to KRW 3 million
    ① (Cafes) Minimization of congestion through limited use of seats at franchise coffee shops and cafés, bakeries, ice cream and shaved ice shops
    *Implementation of spaced out seating or spaced out tables
    ② (Restaurants) Mandatory wearing of masks and keeping of visitors log at restaurants and bakeries bigger than a certain size (ex: 150㎡)
    *Installment of dividers between tables, advised regulations such as individual servings, and development of various incentives
    ③ (Private educational institutes, sports facilities) Mandatory wearing of masks and distancing at training schools, private educational institutes (including study rooms), study cafes, occupational training institutions, and indoor sports facilities

    □ (Reinforced disinfections of hospitals and convalescent hospitals) Leading reinforcement of prevention control regarding congested facilities like high-risk medical institutions and convalescent hospitals with high fatality rates
    ○ Thorough prevention measures such as the application of health insurance (nationwide; temporary during level 2 distancing) for diagnostic testing upon hospitalization, enforcement of inspections of convalescent hospitals and facilities in the metropolitan area and sample diagnostic testing, continued ban on visits
    *Inspection for capacity pooling of patients at hospital-level medical institutions

    □ (Maintenance of other level prevention measures) The existing level-2 prevention measures enforced at high-risk facilities and churches will be upheld until September 27
    ○Ban on gatherings, meetings, events with more than 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors
    ○Ban on gatherings at 11 types of high-risk facilities including clubs, amusement bars, and direct sales facilities
    *Reinforcement of measures, such as concentrated inspections and claims for compensation, taken against small gatherings of direct sales facilities and investment information sessions
    ○Only online services permitted for churches with a ban on gatherings and meals
    ○Discontinued operations of indoor national/public facilities and adjustment of number of students attending school to lessen congestion
