Seoul has different types of parks. These include ecological parks designed with the preservation of certain rare types of flora and fauna in mind, and its small and medium-sized parks that provide an environmentally-friendly setting with diverse fun faclilities for the whole family.

Seoul forest

A unique learning complex created from the structures of an old water purification plant, the Nature Experience Center offers a wide range of learning programs and venues.

Insect Garden

The insect garden was converted from the Rapid Sand Filter Basin (a filtration system consisting of an open watertight basin containing a layer of sand supported on a layer of gravel) after covering the old structure with glass. The newly designed structure has become a multi-purpose greenhouse to help visitors enjoy a more comfortable and efficient tour. Visitors are offered an opportunity to see various garden insects including butterflies along with foliage and tropical plants.

Gallery Garden

A look at the Gallery Garden brings to mind a Roman relic. The garden was converted from the precipitation tank of the old water purification plant into a sunken garden.

Special events area

This facility used for small outdoor events was created from the First Clean Water Reservoir of the old water purification plant. Made by exploiting the existing stone structure, the stage of this tiny arena makes it a perfect venue for small theatrical performances and sporting events.

Observation deck

This observation point offers a great view of the wide open Han River, busy riverside highways and skyscrapers in the Gangnam area across the river. The deck is loved in the summer season in particular as it offers a great shelter from the summer heat with cool, fresh winds blowing from the river and the sweet fragrance of wild flowers. Some visitors use the place for quiet rest or reading while others come here for a simple delicious picnic.
