Seoul has different types of parks. These include ecological parks designed with the preservation of certain rare types of flora and fauna in mind, and its small and medium-sized parks that provide an environmentally-friendly setting with diverse fun faclilities for the whole family.

Olympic Park, an icon of the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, is abundant in sculptures and other permanent works of art on display in memory of this global sporting event. Also inside the park is Mongchontoseong, a mountain fortress wall built during the Baekje era (18 B.C.E. to 660 C.E.). The vast lawn area and the Peace Square, both in harmony with the pleasant natural surroundings, are wonderful to ride around on bicycles or inline skates. Various sized squares and gymnasiums in the park are popular venues for concerts and sporting events. With a floor space of 1,421,494m², this beautiful park combines an uncontaminated natural environment with varied displays of man-made art such that it has become a favored location for shooting television commercials, films and wedding photos. Olympic Park can easily be reached by public transportation, including subway. Located close to the busy commercial district of southeastern Seoul, this beautiful and versatile multi-purpose park reflects the characteristics of Seoul.
