  • Seoul’s inbound FDI rose to all-time high last year

    In the pandemic, the Korean capital Seoul has remained an attractive destination for foreign investment. According to the city government, foreign direct investment in Seoul hit an all-time high last year, amounting to some 10.2 billion U.S. dollars. For comparison, last year, global FDI plunged by 42 percent. Foreigners are attracted by the city’s finance and insurance industry in particular, where the investment rose by 132 percent on-year. As for the source of these funds, there was a 99 percent increase in investment from the U.S., Canada and the Cayman Islands. Analysts say investors are have been interested in K-quarantine and are reassured by Korea’s high sovereign credit rating.
