SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, February 26, 2021 – The Seoul Metropolitan Government completed the construction work for improving the facilities of Yangjae Hydrogen Refueling Station to double up the refueling capacity. The station will be reopened on 1st March.

With such improvement, the daily hydrogen storage capacity of the station is increased more than 2.5 times up from 120kg to 350kg. The station can refuel 70 vehicles per day, which is a threefold rise from 24 cars. As the Yangjae hydrogen refueling station reopens, there are a total of 4 hydrogen refueling stations in Seoul.

Starting from 1st March, Yangjae Hydrogen Refueling Station is open all year round except for Chuseok and New Year’s Day. Opening hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., available to users for 14 hours a day. The hydrogen pump price is 8,800 KRW/kg, which is same with other private hydrogen refueling stations in Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government runs a pilot operation for three days from 26th to 28th Feb to monitor the operation before the official launch. During the pilot period, the station is opened for 10 hours, from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m., while it offers free-of-charge refueling services.

Acting Seoul Mayor Seo Jung-hyup visited Yangjae Hydrogen Refueling Station under the preparation work for reopening in the morning of 25th Feb. During his visit, he had a ride in a hydrogen-powered car and watched the demonstration of refueling.

“As Yangjae Hydrogen Refueling Station is reopened with doubled-up capacity and cutting-edge facilities, it’s expected that the drivers of hydrogen-powered cars would feel a bit more comfortable than before as they had struggled with the lack of hydrogen refueling infrastructure.

Above all, we will focus on ensuring the safety in running the stations so that citizens would feel safer to use the hydrogen refueling stations,” Seo Jung-hyup, Acting Seoul Mayor, said.
