SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, August 7, 2018 – Nearly 400 global leaders in the content industry including Disney, Netflix, Cartoon Network, Tencent and Yuku will gather in Seoul.

Seoul Business Agency announced that it will host the Seoul Promotion Plan (SPP) 2018, Asia’s largest annual international business-to-business (B2B) market event for animations and webtoons. The SPP 2018 is scheduled to take place at Dongdaemun Design Plaza from August 21 to 23.

In addition to major buyers such as Disney, Cartoon Network and Turner, a number of new media platforms including Netflix, iQIYI and Tencent, and emerging buyers like BiliBili, China’s video sharing platform, surprisingly completed their participation in this year’s event at the early stage. Kuaikan Manhua, China’s online and mobile platform for original online comic artwork, and NeoBazar, Indonesia’s game publishing marketing and webtoon service company, will join the SPP 2018 again to buy Korea’s excellent original webtoons.

In particular at this year’s conference, a session entitled “Netflix delivers stories of Korea to the world” will be presented by American streaming service provider that owns more than 125 million subscribers all over the world, and is expected to attract the visitor’s good attention. In addition, Ollie Green, who is the Vice President of animated production at Turner and once was a renowned producer of popular animations, such as “Rick & Morty” and “Robot Chicken,” and Dan Sarto, the Publisher and Editor-at-Large of Animation World Network (AWN), will present a new vision to Korea’s animation market.

Meanwhile, the SPP has recently released entries for the finals both of “Animation Competition” and “Webtoon Award,”drawing great attentions. Especially, in cooperation with Cartoon Network, a famous animation channel for “Adventure Time,” the SPP 2018 has newly set up “Carton’s Most Artist Awards.” Winning animations and webtoons will be given a step-by-step mentoring service directly by global directors at Cartoon Network, helping animation studios advance to overseas markets.
