The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) is creating a metaverse to promote promising Seoul-based startups in a collective virtual shared space that converges virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual space.
The SMG will open the Seoul Startup Hub via ZEPETO, a global metaverse platform with over 200 million global users. The term “metaverse” is a portmanteau of the prefix “meta” (meaning beyond) and “universe.” In this virtual 3D world, users can create avatars of themselves and engage in economic, cultural and social activities. ZEPETO is a metaverse platform made by NAVER, and the service provides various VR experiences for users to communicate with global users via avatars, regardless of one’s age, gender and race.
Inside Seoul Startup Hub will be a promotion center where you can view at a glance the excellent 64 Seoul-based startups as well as studios for one-person streaming, a conference hall for various business events such as investment attractions, and diverse startup support facilities, including startup offices.
ZEPETO users can freely explore Seoul Startup Hub and communicate with other users who visit the space as well.
The SMG has a goal of maximizing global startup promotion via the metaverse, of which the effect is expanding across industries, going beyond promotion through traditional media, such as offline briefing sessions and even online websites.
The SMG will provide map tours and offer various opening events to introduce Seoul Startup Hub so that not only existing ZEPETO users but even first-timers can experience the metaverse platform.
