□ GSEF 2016 has closed on 9th (Fri) with the announcement of [2016 Montreal Declaration] that
summarizes the assembly that over 2,000 of world social, economy leaders’ discussion on collective
collaboration for social innovation which lasted for 3 days.
□ Seoul will be the president city of GSEF in 2018 and it will be held in Bilbao, Spain.
□ Seoul, Montreal, Mondragon unveils a partnership for the International Centre for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer on the Social and Solidarity Economy (C.I.T.I.E.S.) for sharing knowledge and information of social economy and to promote exchange between activists.
□ In the closing plenary session held at 11:30 ＜local time＞, the participants and president city mayor Park Won Soon announced [2016 Montreal declaration] and summarized the discussions in 40 sessions and the resolution on 5 subjects.
□ The key word of the resolution plan is ‘Collective Social Economy’. This is an economy model not only promoting financial efficiency but also supporting social unity, sustainable development, Co-ops, community enterprises and social economy enterprises. It goes beyond cities and organizations forming a collective economy for urban development to secure a quality of life for everyone especially for the underprivileged groups.
□ As a GSEF president city mayor Park Won Soon said, “After 3 days of contemplation of stories of innovative cities, [2016 Montreal Declaration] was announced. And I hope that the social collectivity in the declaration acts as a center of collaboration to find solutions to the worldwide problem that we share.” before he read the declaration.
□ C.I.T.I.E.S is to foster collaboration between local governments and civil society, facilitate the international dissemination and transmission of practices and knowledge of the social and solidarity economy and help GSEF on the execution to achieve its goals.
□ Mayor Park Won Soon said, “I have looked around many places in Montreal, Canada and witness social economy is rooted in this society, making it a place filled with trust and collaboration. And with the [2016 Montreal Declaration] based on [Seoul Declaration], I will work towards making Seoul a model of social economy as a GSEF president city.”
