The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) has conducted its Print Ground project as part of the vitalization of Sewoon Plaza’s printing industry combining designers’ ideas and local printing technology. Print Ground is a project to create and exhibit prototypes that induces the influx of young designers/creators and promotes Sewoon Plaza’s printing industry. The seven prototypes that have been manufactured under the theme of “upcycling” will be commercialized through crowdfunding.
This project was pursued to graft printing industry in Sewoon Plaza based on the city’s experience of “Sewoon Made,” a project that has been carried out to support making prototypes associated with the urban manufacturing industry.
※ Sewoon Made: A project since 2018 through which the SMG supports the association and cooperation between manufacturing industries of Sewoon Plaza, such as machinery, electrical and electronics, and startups established by young people
The seven prototypes under the theme of upcycling, including an eco-friendly board game, neck string and double-sided box, are lined up for crowdfunding. Citizens can look into each product via the crowdfunding platforms Tumblbug and Wadiz (https://tumblbug.com; https://wadiz.kr) starting on Mon, Jun. 28.
※ Crowdfunding: Raising small amounts of money from a large number of people; if more than certain amount of money is raised, the prototype can be commercialized and begin to be sold.
For those citizens who want to see and experience the prototypes, 10 cafes located in the alleys where the printing stores are clustered will exhibit the prototypes during the funding period, starting on Mon, Jul. 5. Citizens can participate in the investment through the QR code that will be placed on each location.
