SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, May 31, 2018 — In an effort to push ahead with tourism marketing of Seoul in Vietnam, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold the “2018 Seoul Show,” a tourism promotion event, on May 31 in Hanoi together with 14 tourism public organizations and enterprises from Korea. Around 100 local travel agencies and media representatives are expected to participate in the event.
At the Seoul Show, diverse hands-on programs will be offered, which include K-beauty makeup shows, nonverbal performances, and fashion shows of Hanbok, or Korean traditional dress.
In addition, there will be the “B2B Travel Market,” a face-to-face business meeting between Seoul’s tourism organizations and enterprises and Vietnamese local travel agencies, and the “2018 Live Seoul,” a media conference for local media representatives, in which participants will discuss the development of Seoul tour products.
Vietnamese economy has grown an annual average of over 6 percent over the past decade, being recognized as the “post-China.” It is also playing an emerging key region in the tourism market. As the two countries have expanded mutual exchanges and increased the number of air routes, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Korea had grown by an average of 33 percent annually for the last three years from 2014.
Korea and Vietnam celebrated the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2017. And the Seoul Metropolitan Government signed a sisterhood agreement with the City of Hanoi in 1996, and established a friendly city relationship with the City of Ho Chi Minh City in 2016. Earlier this year, Seoul concluded a cooperative agreement with the City of Da Nang to transfer know-hows about city railway construction from Seoul Metro.
