    SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, May 5, 2018 – The Seoul Metropolitan Government will hold the “2018 Women Marathon Festival” together with The Women’s News under the slogan of “rooting for my daughter’s better life” at Peace Square of Sangam Worldcup Park, starting from 8:30 am on May 5 (Sat).

    The courses consist of 5km and 10km marathon courses and 4.5km walking course. Around 9,000 runners will gather at Peace Square of Worldcup Park and begin their racing starting from 10km, 5km, and 4.5km consecutively.

    In celebrating Children’s Day, in particular, the festival also holds family sports events where children can enjoy magic shows and board games and play with color beads in a special booth. The festival also runs a “Reaching-out Gym” where participants can enjoy the children’s Taekwondo performance and 14 types of new sports. Also various events will be held where participants can enjoy Korean traditional foods.

    Mayor Park Won-soon will offer the participants the words of encouragement along with a welcoming speech during the opening ceremony starting from 9am. Australia Ambassador James Choi will grace the occasion with his participation in the 10km marathon course.

    Due to the Women Marathon Festival, the sections stretching from the intersection of Worldcup Stadium to Nanji I.C. will be closed in both directions on May 5 (Sat) from 9:20 am to 10:15 am. Roads from Gangbyeon Expressway to Haneul Park will be closed in one direction from 9:20 am to 10:30am.
