The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) held a congratulatory ceremony for young adults born in 2002 who are turning 19 this year, and a traditional coming-of-age performance from 10 AM to 1 PM on May 17 in celebration of the 49th Coming-of-Age Day.

As part of the city’s disease control and prevention measures, only 20 participants were invited to perform, and their performances were streamed live on the SMG’s official YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/pSXOKTBRlIM) and Youthnavi website (www.youthnavi.net), so that the general public could enjoy the festivities together without worrying about COVID-19.

The SMG hosts annual traditional coming-of-age events to raise awareness of the disappearing tradition, and awakening pride and sense of social responsibility as adolescents enter adulthood.
