The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will host the 1st Seoul International Environmental Theater Festival via YouTube from Aug. 16 to 28 under the theme of environmental issues and value of life.
In this one-and-only environmental art festival in Korea, 17 performance groups from France, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Korea will share environmental issues in their respective regions and exchange ecological art.
This year’s Seoul International Environmental Theater Festival will feature a total of 18 free performances, which include three of international invited teams and those of young Korean artists.
|Spice Road||The Whisper of the Wave||The Red Macanuda|
Spice Road is an international performance staged by artists invited from nine countries, the largest among all performances in the festival. It focuses on the issues of limited resources and ecological environment, and shares universal human experiences.
As Korean performances, young artists will present 16 performances including an upcycling puppet show.
This year’s festival will be held online for both the audience and artists to participate in real-time dialogue while the performances are staged. In addition to the artists’ performances, this festival offers an opportunity for citizens to participate in the production of a community art performance. Citizens and artists will create puppets, masks and costumes together to prepare for an outdoor play, which will be staged as the festival’s closing performance.
