The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will hold the 9th Seoul–China Day event online (festival.seoul.go.kr/seoulchinaday) from Mon, Sep. 13 to Sun, Sep. 19, 2021.
Held for the ninth time this year, the Seoul–China Day event is a cultural exchange event started in 2013 through cooperation among the SMG, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Korea, and the China Cultural Center in Seoul. Each year, around 60 exhibition and experience booths and 20 performance groups were operated on Seoul Plaza. Since 2020, however, it has been held as an online event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s event is held under the theme of “Focusing on Sichuan” to introduce Sichuan Province’s regional status, tourism, food, art, and cultural heritage through video content. In addition, the essence of Chinese culture, including traditional Chinese medicine and Tai Chi, will be on display through images and videos. All exhibits will be accompanied with explanations in Korean and Chinese to help both the citizens of Seoul and Chinese people living in Seoul enjoy the event.
There will be online events for convenient participation by anyone—either in self-quarantine or social distancing—including “Sichuan Panda Flower Pot Making,” which is to build a small garden using recycled items, and “Sichuan Food Pictures on Social Media,” where participants experience and post pictures of Sichuan cuisine, such as mapo tofu and dandan noodles, on social media.
