The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced that it will extend the operation of temporary screening clinics that it has been operating using major subway stations and parking lots of public facilities since Mon, Dec. 14, 2020. The period of operation will be extended two weeks, from until Sun, Jan. 3 to until Sun, Jan. 17, 2021.
A total of 336,665 individuals (19,804 per day on average) got tested during the period of 17 days from Mon, Dec. 14 to Wed, Dec. 30. Among them, 922 confirmed cases (confirmation rate of 0.27%) were detected and treated under isolation, which prevented the transmission of the disease by patients without symptoms early.
However, to alleviate the fatigue of medical staff following the extension of operation and considering the number of testing cases per day on average and field conditions, 9 out of 63 screening clinics will be integrated to nearby screening clinics and 2 new ones will be in operation in Gangnam starting Mon, Jan. 4. The operation hours will be partly adjusted as well. For example, the screening centers will be operated only in the morning on weekends.
To find the near temporary screening clinics and find out the operation hours, please visit the SMG website or contact Dasan Call Center (02-120). You can also find them by searching for “임시선별검사소(temporary screening clinics)” on NAVER Map or Kakao Map.
Additionally, the SMG will be launching the “1 person per household” campaign for the safety of families in order to prevent the infections between family members, which recently amount to 24.2% of all infections, as thoroughly as possible.
One representative member per residential household regardless of blood relation is encouraged to get tested to preemptively check for possibility of infection via household transmission.
