The Seoul Metropolitan Government is providing IoT technology to 2,500 elderly people who live alone in the city. The sensors check the health and safety of their citizens with real-time data that tracks their movements and room temperatures.

Seoul operated IoT sensors in 5,000 households last year and saved lives on 40 occasions when awkward movements or no movement at all were detected.

The capital plans to increase the number of IoT installations to 12,500 households by the year 2022.
