The City of Seoul has expanded its subsidies for solar panel installations. The subsidy will now cover outer wall and on-the-ground installations of solar panels, an expansion from the current only on the roof installation.
For each kilowatt of solar installed, the subsidy is about 580 U.S. dollars for a residential building and about 660 dollars for other kinds of buildings. A system for a typical home costs at least a few thousand dollars, so the subsidy is substantial.
The city expects this will encourage people to use solar more at home, at traditional markets and at gas stations. To apply, contact one of the 15 companies selected by Seoul Energy Corporation.
