The Seoul Bike Fest has operated as an annual, resident-driven bicycle parade festival since 2009, in order to promote the popularization of bicycle use, a primary form of green transportation, as an actual means of transport. The festival is comprised of a course connecting the main attractions of the city that are typically restricted from bicycle use, including the Gangbyeonbuk-ro that stretches before seven main bridges of the Hangang River, while being surprisingly popular among local residents and bicycle club members. The 10th Seoul Bike Fest, set to commence on June 17, 2018, will embark from Gwanghwamun Plaza for a 21km trek that brings participants passing through Seoul Station, Yongsan and Gangbyeonbuk-ro before arriving at World Cup Stadium. The festival typically welcomes as many as 5,000 bicycle enthusiasts a year, ranging from beginner and intermediate to advanced, and is carried out in a casual manner without the need for competition. Various programs and events are in store at the final destination, World Cup Stadium, including b-boy dance and special guest performances and more.
