In celebration of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and the year of cultural exchange between the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China (2021–2022), the Seoul Baekje Museum and the Shandong Museum will be holding a special exhibition featuring artifacts that represent each city’s millennia of history.
Due to the logistical difficulty of exchanging relics in the midst of the pandemic, each museum will exhibit photos and videos of the relics for viewing both online and offline.
The Seoul Baekje Museum will hold the exhibition “The Yellow River and Mount Tai: Cultural Exhibition on the Qi and Lu Dynasties” (Jul. 20–Oct. 31) featuring about 70 carefully selected relics representing the vast history of Shandong Province from prehistoric times to the Qi and Lu dynasties. The Shandong Museum will hold the exhibition “Baekje’s Royal Castle and Tomb Complex” (Jul. 20–Aug. 1) featuring about 70 major relics excavated from Hanseong Baekje ruins in Seoul.
The exhibition at the Seoul Baekje Museum is open to the public through reservations only via the museum website (baekjemuseum.seoul.go.kr) in strict observance of the COVID-19 protocol with social distancing. The exhibition photos and videos are available for viewing via the museum website and YouTube (youtube.com/seoulbaekje) as well.
