  • Seoul Attractions as Runway for Seoul Fashion Week With EXO’s Kai as Global Ambassador

    Seoul’s tourist attractions will transform into fashion runways for Seoul Fashion Week. Capturing the beauty and essence of Seoul’s dynamic 600-year history, it will feature runways from Joseon-era palaces, including the archetypal Gyeongbokgung Palace as well as Deoksugung Palace and Unhyeongung Palace, to modern buildings and Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) to captivate the attention of audience from around the world.

    The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will be holding 2022 S/S Seoul Fashion Week online for seven days from Thu, Oct. 7 to Fri, Oct. 15. This time, the stages will be prepared at unique places that boast Korea’s traditional beauty, Seoul’s history, and trendy vibes unique to Seoul.

    The SMG will shoot Seoul Fashion Week’s first fashion film in palaces, including Gyeongbokgung Palace, as representative historic tourist attractions in Seoul. As it gained huge attention when it featured the National Museum of Korea and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art as first tourist attraction runways for 2021 F/W Seoul Fashion Week in March, the SMG has plans to bring reintroduce a fashion show that combines Korean heritage and Korean fashion. It expects that the upcoming fashion week will promote Korea’s fashion competitiveness through outstanding Korean beauty to global audiences and revitalize tourism in the pandemic era.

    This year’s global ambassador will be Kai from the globally famous idol group EXO, and a promotion video featuring Kai will be uploaded on Wed, Sep. 15 on YouTube.

    Three major programs of 2022 S/S Seoul Fashion Week comprise a digital fashion show presenting designers’ runway footage, one-on-one sales meeting between designers and overseas buyers, and program for promoting public awareness of designer brands and making promotion content for domestic and overseas marketing.

    First, the digital fashion show is the main event of Seoul Fashion Week. There will be 37 fashion shows held over the course of seven days with an opening and a closing ceremony hosted by famous artists.

    Second, there will be channels for new domestic and overseas market opening to quench the thirst of businesses caused by COVID-19. A trade show with the online/offline participation of more than 120 brands will be held and video meetings with overseas buyers will take place.

    Third, an online special exhibition of Seoul Fashion Week will take place for general consumers. In addition, Seoul Fashion Week’s fashion film and collaboration content with participating designers to promote the public awareness of the Seoul Fashion Week will be uploaded on the social media platform TikTok.
