The globally popular Baby Shark and Pinkfong that are the stars of the familiar tune, “Baby shark, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo,” will be the first characters to be selected as honorary ambassadors of the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
The appointment ceremony for the honorary ambassador will be held in Seoul City Hall at 2:00 p.m. on June 8 (Mon.). Baby Shark and Pinkfong will receive a plaque of appointment from Mayor Park Won Soon and begin activities to promote the city of Seoul.
Pinkfong’s first activity will be to rewrite the lyrics to the familiar “Baby Shark” song onto a “Thank You” song, which sends a message of appreciation to the citizens who observed prevention measures during the COVID-19 epidemic. The song will be released in early July on the official social media channels of SMG and the Pinkfong YouTube channel.
As honorary ambassadors of the SMG, Baby Shark of Pinkfong will create fun videos that incorporate Seoul’s childcare policies while unfolding various campaigns to promote the city.
An honorary ambassador of the SMG is one who acts as a liaison for “communications with the citizens,” which is the top priority of the SMG. With the new appointment of Pinkfong, there are now 39 teams of SMG honorary ambassadors comprised of professionals from various fields, such as broadcasting, architecture, culture, and the arts.
