SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA, September 5, 2019 — The Seoul Metropolitan Government said that it will hold the “Pyeongyang Dabansa” (Pyeongyang’s Everyday Matters) Exhibition, one of the 2019 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, from September 7 to November 10 at the Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture.
The Exhibition, the second of its kind after the previous one in 2017, captures daily lives of ordinary people in Pyeongyang in various ways. It was designed to explore the homogeneity between the two Koreas, while seeking for ways to make future exchanges between Seoul and Pyeongyang.
It consists of three parts: “Pyeongyang Media Exhibition,” “Pyeongyang- Sightseeing,” and “Talk Concert.”
In the Pyeongyang Media Exhibition, daily lives of the capital city of North Korea are shown through photos, videos and media art.
Pyeongyang- Sightseeing is a program that citizens can participate. Using their mobile devices, people can enjoy the program like a game. Participants just type in a hashtag related to Pyeongyang on the mobile devices and create their own Pyeongyang travel story.
During the exhibition, experts, North Korean defectors and Seoul citizens from various fields will participate in a talk show to discuss and share information on daily life in Pyeongyang. The dubbed “Joseon Sanghoi Talk Concert” will be held in a total of five sessions at the Archive Hall of the Seoul Hall of Urbanism & Architecture with the theme of “Pyeongyang’s Beauty, Food, Style and Joy.”
