What is the HOPE Ondol Project?

  • The HOPE Ondol project is a local donating and sponsoring program for people having financial difficulties and to spread warmth in the neighborhood, just like the Korean traditional Ondol, which represents warmth.
  • The strength of this program is that it is run by local residents. Moreover, the project aims to build “my hometown welfare network for neighborhoods having difficulties” by supporting the local Pulppuri citizens’ corps, self-sustainable voluntary organizations, and religious organizations.

Hope Sharing Project

1. Kkumnarae (Dream) Bankbook
  • The Hope Plus Bankbook program provides full or half-matching fund for three years’ worth of monthly income savings of participants.

  • Matching funds are provided for bank savings aimed at housing fund, small-scale business incubation fund, and higher-education and occupation training fund of the relevant person or his or her children.

2. Hope Plus Bankbook

The Hope Plus Bankbook program provides full or half-matching fund for three or five years’ worth of monthly income savings of participants. Matching funds are provided for bank savings aimed at housing fund, small-scale business incubation fund, and higher-education and occupation training fund of the relevant person or his or her children.

3. Emergency Welfare Support Program
  • The emergency situations include loss of income due to the death, disappearance, missing, imprisonment, etc. of the main bread earner; serious disease or injury; negligence, abandonment or abuse by family members; domestic violence or sexual assault by family members; loss of residence due to fire, etc.; and loss of income by divorce.

  • This program supports the households earning less than 150% of the minimum cost of living in emergency situations subsidizing their cost of living, housing expenses, medical expenses, educational expenses, etc.
