Celebrating festival for the start of the 2016 Lunar New Year’s Day (known in Korean as “Seollal”), was held from February 5th to February 9th. Traditionally Seollal is a day people visit their hometowns and spend time with family, and the holiday is one of the biggest occasions in the year. Unhyeongung Palace was the venue for some of the celebrations with visitors to partake in making a New Year’s Talisman, making a Bokjory (traditional luck bag), traditional folk games, as well as various performances. Additionally, all year round, there is the chance to try out the traditional costume while strolling in the palace.
