The 2020 “Music Festival in Hanok,” an online concert at hanok that invited musicians of various genres under the theme of the “transformation of Namsangol Hanok Village into a live concert stage,” was held on Sun, Oct. 4 during the Chuseok holiday.
This festival took place online for everyone’s safety and citizens who couldn’t go to music festivals this year due to COVID-19. The concert was live-streamed on NAVER TV with more than 16,000 views. It suggested the new possibility of an online music festival as it was well-received by music lovers and regular citizens.
Viewers left comments that they greatly enjoyed the live performances of famous artists without a space constraint. In particular, it is said that the performances of unique and original music including jazz, rock, and city pop in the traditional space of hanok grabbed the eyes and ears of viewers of different genders and ages.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will upload the special music videos following the requests from citizens who want to watch the performances again. Starting on Fri, Oct. 23, 2020, a live performance video with a representative performance for each of the 11 teams will be posted on Namsangol Hanok Village’s YouTube channel and NAVER TV. If you missed the live concert, this is a great opportunity to enjoy the colorful show on the stages in the Namsangol Hanok Village.
