Instead of saying “ We will do it,” we will say “We did it.”’
We haven’t just apologized and made plans during the one year since the Sewol Ferry tragedy.
The Noryangjin underground reservoir accident,
the Banghwadaegyo (Bridge) ramp accident,
the Sangwangsimni subway collision,
the sink holes on roads all over Seoul, and others.
Recently, there have been many accidents in Seoul, causing great anxiety among our citizens,
and we have recorded everything so that we won’t forget.
We have created a system for sustainable safety,
and we have acted on it, but it is still not enough.
Today, the first anniversary of the Sewol Ferry tragedy,
is a day for introspection.
At the very least, we will do our best to reflect upon our mistakes
and improve our administration of the city.
Seoul is gradually becoming safer!
Our citizens will only feel relief when Seoul is truly safe.
