Isn’t it a gorgeous sight being able to give back to the citizens a road that only cars were allowed to use.
Today, we held the “Opening Event” for the elevated road near Seoul Station. We closed off the road to cars so that people could freely walk about and take a look around. It had never been open for citizens to walk on since its completion ceremony in 1970, so this was the first time in 44 years that a pedestrian had stepped foot on it as a walkway.
Through expert consultation and international prize contests for plans, this elevated road will turn into the world’s best green walkway and a symbol of urban regeneration.
