Unification of a Divided Nation
[Mayor Park Won Soon’s Hope Journal 525]
Yesterday, I visited the Berlin Wall and offered flowers in honor of the 136 people who died while climbing over the wall.
This has already become a part of Germany’s past, yet the division of Korea still remains a cold reality.
At that moment, I was grief-stricken, wondering why we must continue suffering and living so divided after the tragedy of the Cold War and ethnic struggle, while Germany prospers through the unification of its once divided land. I encourage us all gather our strength and end this tragedy.
