  • The 68th Liberation Day

    is the National Liberation Day. This week, Seoul Metropolitan Government will
    present special nameplates to twenty-two independence activists in Seoul on the
    occasion of the 68th anniversary of Liberation Day.

     

    At
    present thirty-eight former independence activists are living in Seoul, twenty-two
    of whom have agreed to Seoul Metropolitan Government hanging a nameplate
    indicating their status at the entrance to their homes. The design of the plates
    was made in consultation with experts after asking the independence activists’
    opinions.

     

    This
    event is part of our efforts to commemorate those who strived for the country’s
    independence.

     

    Seoul Metropolitan
    Government started paying a monthly allowance of 100,000 won to the
    independence activists in April this year. The activists and their family
    members are also allowed to receive treatment and medication free of charge
    from City Government-run municipal hospitals and pharmacies.
