Another Sultry Day!
[Mayor Park Won Soon’s Hope Journal 231]
Today was yet another sultry day. I cast a glance out of the window of my office from time to time, concerned about those working outside. The national weather service issued a hot weather warning on three occasions in June and July. It is reported that a total of 19 people suffered from sunstroke during those two months. During summer last year, 119 people suffered from sunstroke and hot weather warnings were issued on 17 days. We should be very careful about our health this summer.
Please pay attention to the daily weather forecast. On particularly hot days, be sure to drink plenty of water and take sufficient salt and minerals. Refrain from energetic outdoor activities. Please be sure to check whether the elders in your neighborhood are alright during these sultry days. DO NOT leave a child or a pet in a car.
We gave instructions that workers at construction jobsites or factories should take a rest between 2:00 and 5:00pm on hot days. Seoul Metropolitan Government officials will check whether this practice is being observed.
A total of 1,204 rescue crew members and 140 ambulances are ready to rush to the assistance of anyone who calls for help. Contact them through the Seoul Metropolitan Government Urban Safety Office twitter seoulsafety or call 120 (Seoul Call Center Dasan 120) if you need help.
In Seoul, a hot weather warning is issued whenever the temperature stays at 33~350C for two days. Please take care of your health. Fall will be here soon.
