Today is a day when one feels that spring is finally here after a long, changeable weather. Please go out with your family or friends and have a good time. In riverside places not far away from you are facilities provided by Seoul Metropolitan Government to help you enjoy five types of sports:

    1. Climbing artificial rock walls in Ttukseom
Since their installation in 2006, they have been loved by adventure sport lovers. Each of the five walls measures 40m wide and 15m high. Climbers say that nothing can compare to climbing rock walls on a nice spring day.

The artificial rock walls in Ttukseom are open to all those with proper gear. A free rock wall climbing education session is held between April and November every year: introductory class, 7:00 PM~9:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays; student class, every Saturday, and; intermediate course, to be opened in fall. The necessary gears are lent free, but participants should have their own shoes.

    2. Lawn bowling/3. Gateball
You can enjoy lawn bowl in Jamsil Hangang Park and gateball in the hangang parks in Gwangnaru, Jamsil,
Ttukseom, Banpo, Ichon, Yeouido, Mangwon, and Gangseo. Lawn bowling is a sport that requires a high level of concentration.

The one in Jamsil Hangang Park is the only lawn bowling field in Seoul made according to international standards. Interested? Please call the Seoul Rehabilitation Sports Association or the Seoul Handicapped Lawn Bowling Association (+82-2-336-9812). The gateball fields in the aforesaid riverside parks are open for use by everybody.

    4. Extraordinary bikes; bike racing; rail biking
You can experience the fun of riding extraordinary bikes or bike racing or rail biking in Gwangnaru Hangang Park and engaging in extreme sports in the hangang parks in Ttukseom, Gwangnaru, and Ichon. There are a total of 146 “extraordinary bikes” in 39 types, including handlebar-activated bikes. The use fee is 1,000 won per 20 minutes but is waived for children under 6 years.

    5. Extreme sports
Extreme sports fields are available in the hangang parks in Ttukseom, Gwangnaru, and Ichon. The 4800㎡ field in Ttukseom has 7 introductory and 6 intermediate facilities. This one was made according to international standards. For inquiries on extreme sports, please call +82-2-3780-0772.

We at Seoul Metropolitan Government do our best to manage hangang parks better and develop diverse programs. Why don’t you spend a good time with your family or lover or friends in a riverside park this weekend?
