A few years ago I had a friend get scammed by a mutual aid company during one of the toughest times of his life his mother’s death.

These criminals were targeting those who are grieving the loss of their loved ones.
I felt sick to my stomach.

I would like anyone who experienced mutual aid-related fraud to report to the Seoul Metropolitan Government office.

We will take the necessary actions against consumer damage investigate for offense, give recommendations for correction, or request adjustment.

Seoul Metropolitan Government has come up with solutions against the ten major threats to citizens’ living.

Last year, Seoul Metropolitan Government unveiled its solutions in seven major areas: loan sharks, pyramid selling, door-to-door distributors, delayed or exploited wages, employment fraud, violations in real estate transactions, and prostitution among runaway minors. The solutions to these problems have been revised, with three more areas – franchisees, mutual aid, and fraud against senior citizens – added.

Unlike the “doctor after death”-type responses in the past, we have prepared a way to curb damage before it occurs.

We have expanded and reorganized our No More Tears website at seoul.go.kr/tearstop where citizens can report violations. It will also be available on Naver, a popular portal.

We will open the Seoul Finance Welfare Consultation Center this May to improve the people’s financial conditions.

Seoul Metropolitan Government will also heighten awareness among senior citizens who are often the target of fraud. Moreover, there are programs to help minors who work at coffee shops and convenience stores.

They say politics must dry the people’s tears.
I know our efforts will take us closer to a better world.

We must improve the people’s living conditions by solving problems that affect our daily lives. That is where we begin.

Someday, there will be no more tears to dry for Seoul.
I hope Seoul Metropolitan Government’s solutions serve as a reliable partner for the people living in Seoul.

    Seoulites! We are almost there!
