I am currently on my way to the airport. I will be visiting Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the two biggest cities in the United Arab Emirates, for five days to give a keynote speech at the Dubai International Commerce Awards and pitch Seoul’s public transportation system.
Dubai has adopted the bus traffic card system and spent KRW 1 trillion on underground subways and trams to ease its chronic traffic congestion. Abu Dhabi will spend KRW 8 trillion on establishing a smart transportation system and a metro rail. Abu Dhabi’s public transportation is a mere 650 buses that ply 95 routes.
I will meet with Mattar Mohammed al Tayer, head of Dubai’s Municipality Public Transport Department, to discuss support and cooperation with Korean companies that offer subway management, systems, transportation card systems, and other services in the transportation field. Officials from Korea Smart Card Co., Ltd., LG CNS, SK C&C, and other ITS system companies will accompany me in my trip.
After that, I will travel to Abu Dhabi on the 20th to meet with Transportation Minister Abdulla bin Rashid Khalifa al Otaiba for a presentation on the excellence of Seoul’s transportation system. I am ready to export Seoul’s city operation know-how, armed with years of administrative experience. Municipal governments will follow private companies in exporting to the world, thereby creating a new revenue model.

P.S. I always feel my English is not adequate when I am in a conference overseas. That is why I always promise myself to spend more time studying when I am home. But my resolve is short-lived; my busy schedule is also to blame.
Finally, I got in touch with a professor who agreed to study interview English and public speaking with me. We immediately got a non-Korean professor who often lectures at universities and law schools. i guess it takes positive reinforcement to get things done.
the very first principle i learned is called prep. first, present the points in a deductive structure, and then elaborate on the reason followed by simple examples. finish your speech by returning to the points again along with your resolution. i do not have the gift of gab. to be honest, i tend to blabber. the people who are helping me are true professionals. they collected all my english interviews for analysis and evaluation, and then made me watch them again. we do not have a program that teaches children to talk like this. i thought it would be brilliant to have this in the curriculum starting in grade school! i recently had an interview with cnn. please watch out for an improved me! but then again, rome was not built overnight.
