What is Global Seoul-Mate? Hello and welcome ladies and gentlemen of Global Seoul-Mate. The online, international ‘Global Seoul-Mate’ mission was launched by Seoul Metropolitan Government on May 1st, 2012. As of March 2012, Global Seoul-Mate is comprised of 110 people representing 26 countries, and serves to fulfill the following roles: conveying a vivid image of a contemporary Seoul, producing text, photographic and video content which uncovers the charm of Seoul’s every nook and cranny, and blogs and SNS, just to name a few.. An exclusive Global Seoul-Mate community is established on the Seoul Metropolitan Government homepage, utilizing the ‘mate (user) platform’. ‘Mates’ can upload content from the space which is visible to visitors on the homepage, and is connected to allow visitors access to the channels operated by other ‘mates’. Additionally, there is a forum which allows the exchange of information through the Global Seoul-Mate community relating to Seoul’s appeal and methods of publicity, such as photos and video clips. The 2012 authentication certificate of Global Seoul-Mate is available for download on the homepage, and there are two symbols produced and published which can only be shared by Global Seoul-Mate. We hope that you, too, will publicize this initiative by downloading the symbols and uploading them to your main channels, as you are able to verify the identity of another ‘mate’ when visiting their space, and vice versa. Additionally, Seoul Metropolitan Government checks both the quality and content produced by Global Seoul-Mate and the loyalty of users publishing the symbol marks to select the best ‘mates’. There are plans to provide privileges such as: granting tickets to ‘On‧Off’ promotion events connected to city marketing, invitations to meetings, and the presentation of souvenirs to superior users and mates suggesting ideas useful to the city of Seoul. We reiterate our wish for Seoul to become one with citizens around the world through positive, publicity activities, of Global Seoul-Mate. Thank you.
