The person I want to recommend is Barry Welsh (http://www.seoulabc.com/). He’s been organizing literary events in Seoul for 3 years to promote and introduce Korean literature, culture, and history to international residents of South Korea. Over the past three years he has arranged events with some of the most famous writers in Korea including Gong Ji-young, Shin Kyung-sook, Kim Young-ha, Hwang Sun-mi, and Jo Kyung-ran. Over 1500 foreign and local residents have attended one of my book club events.
Six months ago he also created Seoul Film Society to introduce international residents to classic Korean films.
Both the 10 Magazine Book Club and Seoul Film Society are designed to promote Korean culture and provide a space for an international audience and a Korean audience to meet and share their ideas and opinions.
Barry Welsh truly contribute to Seoul as its honorary citizen. I highly recommend him.
