With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic spreading across the globe this year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will stream the “online audience-free live broadcast” of Korea’s proud Taekwondo performance to encourage a healthy lifestyle while staying at home and to ease the frustration of lack of cultural and tourism activities.
The Taekwondo performance has been held annually since 2007 at the Namsangol Hanok Village as a permanent performance and as a street performance. This representative performance of Seoul has brought entertainment to locals and foreign tourists and this year, the online performance is expected to offer more programs for enjoyment.
Starting with the collaboration stage by the Taekwondo performance team, “Nolja” and a breakdancing team at noon on Wednesday, September 16, the live broadcast will also stream the “Traditional Taekwondo Demonstration Performance” and the “Taekwondo Creative Cultural Performance” by seven representative teams of Korea (with eight scheduled performances) until November at the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters) regular performance hall, Cheonwoogak Square at Namsangol Hanok Village, and T-1 Stadium of Muju Taekwondowon (at Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do), the holy ground of global Taekwondo.
