Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters held an inauguration ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on November 20 for the newly established “Smart Safe City Seoul Council” to realize a smart safe city using IoT-based technologies.

Since 2017, Seoul has been preparing a real-time firefighting facility management system using IoT-based technologies. The establishment of the system will be complete by the end of November 2019.

Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters decided to found the Smart Safe City Seoul Council to evaluate the exact state of operation of the real-time firefighting facility management system that is currently being established and to improve and collaboratively respond to problems, such as false alarms.

The inauguration ceremony of the Smart Safe City Seoul Council took place at 2 p.m. on November 20, 2019 (Wed.) in the meeting room on the 3rd floor of the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters with the participation of Gachon University, Korea Fire Institute, and 11 major firefighting facility manufacturers.

The Smart Safe City Seoul Council will guarantee the safety of citizens by building the foundation for permanent and normal operation of the system in order to realize a smart safe city. The council will ▴ share data related to statistics and analytics of the real-time firefighting facility management system, ▴ suggest improvement plans for each professional field to tackle the existing problems of the current system, ▴ standardize new technologies of firefighting facilities, and ▴ collaboratively utilize technologies based on the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
