The Ant Village, located in Hongje-dong of Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, is one of the few remaining shanty towns left within the city of Seoul. It has a land area of approximately 50,000 m2 with around 210 households and 420 residents, while being characterized for its high, steep hillsides. Following the myriad of wall murals created around the town as part of the public artistry project, it has turned into quite the popular destination for city tourists.
