The current Hanyangdoseong Hyehwa-dong Exhibition & Visitor Center is the former official residence of thirteen Seoul mayors, from Mayor Park Yong-su in 1981 to Mayor Park Won-soon in 2013. As a Japanese structure built in 1941, the residence was recognized for its unique architectural style and historical value, leading to the decision to preserve the site. The official residence of the Seoul mayor was moved and built on another site while the residence was reborn as the Hanyangdoseong Hyehwa-dong Exhibition & Visitor Center in November 2016. The first floor, that was once a meeting room and reception room, is now home to the history and records of Hanyangdoseong (Seoul City Wall). The original states of the building’s interior and the garden have been preserved.
