Located in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace, Gwanghwamun Square is a 20,000-square-meter urban space dominated by two statues of important figures from Korean history—Admiral Yi Sun-Shin and Sejong the Great. In fact, you can learn more about these two men if you venture underneath the square, where there are free museums dedicated to each of them: the King Sejong Story and the Story of Yi Sunshin, both featuring interactive exhibitions. Just a short distance from the centrally located Gwanghwamun Square there are many other places worth seeing, including Cheonggyecheon Stream, the fashionable neighbourhood of Samcheong-dong, City Hall, and Jongro.
