Seoul Southwestern Working Mom Support Center (hereinafter “Southwestern Center”) has published the English “Guidebook for Employees in Pregnancy, Childbirth and Parenting Period” (hereinafter “Guidebook”) to promote the institutions that support work and life balance for immigrants who have married Koreans or foreign employees who are unfamiliar with the Korean language, as well as to encourage them to use the available services.
The Korean Guidebook, which was the foundation for the English version, has been revised according to the revisions of related laws since the issuance of its first edition in 2016. Since 2017, the “Guidebook Plus for Employees in Pregnancy, Childbirth and Parenting Period” (hereinafter “Korean Guidebook Plus”), an in-depth version of the guidebook, has been published to provide more practical information, such as how to fill out forms as well as frequently asked questions and answers, that was not included in the original Guidebook.
The English Guidebook, Korean Guidebook, and Korean Guidebook Plus are available for download on the archive of the website of the Southwestern Center (www.gworkingmom.net).
At the Southwestern Center, counseling is available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and night-time counseling is available on Thursdays until 8 p.m. Aside from visiting or phone counseling, they offer online and KakaoTalk counseling services as well so that working moms can get advice as conveniently as possible.
