Seoul, I Design : Public Design Competition 2009

The City of Seoul is pleased to announce 2009 Public Design Competition with the theme of "Seoul, I Design" as followings. This competition is open to a global audience.

1. Competition Theme : The all public design for women (examples as follows)

Sidewalk	footpath for women’s convenience, trenches, tree sustainers, escalators
Facilities(Park)	Public Nursing Rooms / Rental bay carriages
Public WC	Public Restrooms for women with children / Coin Restrooms for women only / Portable Restrooms for men and women
Carriage	Baby carriages, bicycles, escalators, etc.
Public Transportations	Bus stop facilities / Public transportation information systems geared toward women / Taxi stops for crime prevention
Resting Facility	Rest facilities for women with infants or children / Rest facilities for pregnant women and nursing mothers / Rest facilities along sidewalks for women
Bicycle Stand	Bicycle corrals for women, Bicycle Parking Lot for women
Parking Lot	Parking Systems for women only(Signboards+Security Facilities+Use of Space)
Informative Facility	Roadside Billboards

2. Concept of Design
- Public design for mothers accompanied by infants and children
- Public design geared toward women’s safety
- Public design for the woman’s urban convenience
- Public design which provides women with pleasure and comfort both physically and psychologically.

3. Timelines
- Submission : July 14, 2009 (TUE) ~ July 17(FRI) (10:00~17:00, Korea Time)
- Tentative schedule for the announcement of prize winners : July 30 (THU)
- Exhibition : Mock-up on display Oct. 2009 during the Seoul Design Olympics
(Mock-up to be made by Seoul Metropolitan City).
