Grand Greenhouse in Changgyeonggung Palace was built in 1909 and designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 83. It is the first Western-style greenhouse in Korea with its structure comprising a mixture of steel, glass and wood.

This greenhouse was built in the palace along with a zoo. The juxtaposition of this modern architecture, which shows architectural features of the world’s fair style in the late nineteenth-century, ensconced in the palatial setting surrounded by traditional Korean architecture is one of its most outstanding points.

Visitors are often awestruck by the beauty of the white greenhouse in harmony with green plants inside!

Note: Grand Greenhouse is temporarily closed due to COVID-19.
