1945

4 Organigations, 20 Divisions (1 office, 18 divisions, 1 center) and 86 affiliated offices

  • 1946 - Head of administration (vice-mayor)
  • 1948 - Establishment of Police Bureau established

 

1955

1966

  • 1962 – 2 vice-mayors

 

1979

4 departments, 16 bureaus, 1 headquarter, 88 divisions, 1 center and 77 affiliated offices

  • 1969 – Public Servant Education Center established

 

1985

  • 1981 – 1 vice-mayor (vice-minister) / General Construction Headquarters established
  • 1982 –  Bureaus and divisions are renamed

 

1990

1 office, 2 departments, 15 bureaus, 1 headquarters, 8 offices, 85 sections, 1 center, 3 headquarters and 65 affiliated offices

  • 1988 – Family Welfare Bureau  established
  • 1989 – Olympic Preparation Group abolished / Citizen Living Bureau, Culture and Tourism Bureau, Housing Bureau / Waterworks Authority, and Subway Construction Headquarters established

 

1995

2 offices, 1 department, 12 bureaus, 1 headquarter, 3 offices, 67 divisions, 1 center, 4 headquarters and 66 affiliated offices

  • 1991 – Police Bureau gains independence becomes Seoul Metropolitan Police
  • 1992 – Establishment of city cleaning project headquarter
  • 1993 - Citizen Living Bureau, Welfare Society Bureau,and  Environment and Greenery Bureau abolished
  • Welfare society environment bureau
  • 1995 –  City Facility Safety Management Headquarters (General Construction headquarters →affiliated office)

 

2000

  • 1998 – Organization streamlined by abolishing and merging offices, bureaus, and divisions (16 offices, bureaus,and headquarters → 11 offices, and bureaus)

  • 2003 – Establishment of Finance bureau, Legal Affairs (4)
  • 2005 – Establishment of Green Seoul Bureau / One backup organization (1)

  • Seodaemun Fire Station established

  • Establishment of Hangang project headquarters (Hangang Park Office → Hangang Project Headquarters)
