One of the four centuries-old Joseon Dynasty-era gates in Seoul has been restored using digital technology and is now available for public use.
Also known as Seodaemun Gate, Donuimun Gate, located in the west of the city was torn down in 1915 during Japan’s colonial rule.
Its actual restoration was impractical due to traffic and compensation for the land where the gate stood.
Officials restored it using virtual reality and augmented reality technologies.
People can download a mobile application to get a glimpse at what the gate looked like in the past.
