“Dano Museum Events to Welcome Summer” will be held at the Seoul Baekje Museum for free on June 17, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the museum’s lobby and plaza.
These events will be an opportunity to enjoy the seasonal customs of Dano – a Korean traditional holiday that falls on the 5th day of the fifth month of the lunar Korean calendar. Visitors will be able to watch the demonstration of a “hair bath in water boiled with sweet flag,” Dano’s prime custom, create a wish charm for health and longevity, toss bags of red beans to cast out evil spirits, and experience many other events related to Dano. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to drink a refreshing glass of mugwort tea after playing Dano’s most representative folk game “Ssireum,” a.k.a Korean wrestling, and enjoy various other entertainment including “learning about prostration,” “Neolttwigi,” and a “large-scale game of yut.”
